Summers
Under the shadows the setting sun casts
You sit and remember the many summers past
Frivolous summers that swept by way too fast
Melancholic summers that seemed to forever last

Think of summers when on soft sand you did lie
The vision of the girl next to you etched in your mind's eye
You ponder on how it ended and you vaguely wonder why
You dont regret just reflect that time passes you by

You remember how you strolled hand in hand
The feel of your naked feet on the cool sand
You recall all the weird things you planned
The weight of dreams so vivid and grand

A single thought becomes a kaleidoscope of memories
Reminds you of time and its many vagaries
Your thoughts to other summers they move on
Other girls other plans - all now gone
Summers when you were young and wild and free
When you were as joyous as only the innocent can be
Summers filled with craze and lust when you went astray
When the wide-eyed innocence of youth was taken away

And still the lingering shadows remain
While you still recall the summers in vain

Nothing's forever not even the pain
Its just that damn setting sun again
